Hi, I’m Iliyana.

I’m a tech executive, mum of two, and someone who’s been fascinated by sustainability for over 15 years.

Long before “green living” became a mainstream conversation, I wrote my university dissertation on sustainability and social media communications. I believed then — as I do now — that the choices we make every day can have a meaningful impact on both our families and the world around us.

Then life happened.

An international career took me across six countries. I built leadership teams, worked long hours, became a mum and discovered what every busy parent knows: making sustainable choices sounds simple until you’re juggling work, children and everyday life.

I found myself asking the same questions over and over.

  • Which products are genuinely safer?

  • Which ingredients actually matter?

  • What’s actually built to last — versus what looks eco but falls apart in a year?

  • What’s worth paying more for?

  • Which eco claims are backed by evidence — and which are just clever marketing?

The answers were rarely straightforward.

So I started researching.

I read scientific studies, compare ingredients, dig into certifications, investigate brands and spend hours looking beyond the marketing to understand what really makes a product healthier, safer, longer-lasting, and more sustainable — because durability is its own kind of sustainability, even when there’s no eco label attached.

Then I share what I find.

This newsletter exists because I know most parents don’t have the time to do that research themselves.

My goal isn’t perfection.

It’s helping busy expat families make informed decisions — one practical swap at a time, whether that’s a safer ingredient or a product that just won’t need replacing next year. No guilt. No fear. No greenwashing. Just evidence, context and realistic advice that fits real life.

If that sounds like the kind of guidance you’re looking for, I’d love to have you here.

Welcome!
